Ethical Standards

At Olive & Sage Wellness Co., ethical practice is foundational to all services offered, including coaching, hypnotherapy, somatic practices, energy-based work, and therapeutic writing. These standards exist to protect client autonomy, safety, dignity, and trust, and to ensure all services are delivered with integrity, transparency, and care.

Clients are regarded as whole, capable, and inherently resourceful. All work is grounded in trauma-informed principles, respect for personal agency, and professional responsibility.

1. Professional Integrity & Representation

I commit to honesty and integrity in all professional activities.

  • I do not knowingly make false, misleading, or exaggerated claims about services, outcomes, credentials, or scope of practice.

  • I accurately represent my education, training, certifications, and experience across all modalities offered.

  • I honor the intellectual and professional contributions of others and do not present others’ work as my own.

  • I remain attentive to personal circumstances that could impair my ability to serve clients effectively and seek appropriate professional support when needed, including pausing or ending services when ethically required.

  • All coaching, educational, and wellness services are conducted in alignment with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Code of Ethics and recognized professional standards applicable to each modality.

2. Scope of Practice & Modality Integration

Services offered may include coaching, hypnotherapy, somatic practices, energy-based work, and therapeutic or reflective writing. Ethical clarity is maintained across all modalities.

  • These services are not a substitute for medical, psychological, psychiatric, or legal care.

  • I do not diagnose, treat, or cure mental or physical health conditions unless explicitly licensed and legally permitted to do so.

  • Hypnotherapy, somatic practices, energy work, and writing-based practices are offered as supportive, exploratory, and client-directed processes.

  • Clients are encouraged to seek appropriate licensed professionals when additional or specialized care is indicated.

3. Conflicts of Interest & Compensation

Professional relationships are maintained free from exploitation or undue influence.

  • I actively seek to avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any actual or potential conflicts should they arise.

  • I do not accept or provide referral compensation without transparent disclosure to the client.

  • Bartering for services or goods is considered only when it does not compromise professional boundaries or client well-being.

  • I do not take personal, professional, or financial advantage of the client relationship beyond agreed-upon compensation outlined in a clear agreement.

  • Compensation is never contingent upon client outcomes, performance, or results.

4. Client Relationship & Informed Consent

Client autonomy, clarity, and consent are central to all work.

  • I provide clear agreements outlining the nature of services, boundaries, confidentiality, financial arrangements, and expectations.

  • Prior to or at the initial session, clients are informed about the nature of each modality, potential emotional responses, and the limits of confidentiality.

  • Clients have the right to ask questions, decline any practice, pause sessions, or withdraw consent at any time.

  • Clients may terminate the professional relationship at any point, subject to the terms of the agreement.

  • If a client is no longer benefiting or would be better served by another professional or modality, I will support an ethical transition.

5. Boundaries, Power, & Safety

Clear and respectful boundaries are maintained at all times.

  • Professional boundaries are established and honored across all modalities.

  • Any physical or somatic-based practices are conducted only with explicit consent and clear communication.

  • I maintain professional, ethical, and legally compliant boundaries in all client relationships. I do not engage in sexual or romantic relationships with clients during the course of our work or for any period of time following the conclusion of services, in accordance with applicable laws, professional standards, and ethical guidelines governing therapeutic and helping relationships.

  • The inherent power dynamics of therapeutic and coaching relationships are acknowledged and navigated with care, humility, and accountability.

6. Trauma-Informed Practice & Client Empowerment

All services are grounded in trauma-informed principles.

  • Clients are never pressured to disclose, relive, or process experiences beyond their readiness.

  • Emotional regulation, pacing, and nervous-system safety are prioritized in hypnotherapy, somatic, energy, and writing practices.

  • I actively manage my own biases, reactions, and internal processes to ensure the client’s agenda remains central.

  • Clients are viewed as naturally creative, resourceful, and whole, capable of discovering insight and meaning at their own pace.

7. Confidentiality, Privacy & Records

Client privacy is respected with the highest level of care.

  • All client information, including identity and session content, is held in strict confidence unless disclosure is required by law or authorized in writing.

  • Records are maintained, stored, and disposed of securely in compliance with applicable laws and professional standards.

  • Client names and identifying details are never shared without explicit permission.

  • Any collaborators or assistants involved in services are required to adhere to these same confidentiality and ethical standards.

8. Research, Education & Writing-Based Work

Ethical responsibility extends to research, education, and written expression.

  • Any research or educational activities are conducted with honesty, informed consent, and participant safety as the highest priority.

  • Therapeutic and reflective writing practices are facilitated as client-led processes, honoring emotional boundaries and personal meaning.

  • Writing shared within sessions remains confidential unless otherwise agreed upon by the client.

9. Professional Respect & Accountability

Ethical practice extends beyond individual client relationships.

  • I treat colleagues, peers, and the wellness profession with respect and integrity.

  • I do not engage in activities that undermine public trust in coaching or holistic wellness professions.

  • I remain committed to ongoing education, self-reflection, and professional growth.
